Our mission is to create tools for managing and understanding your personal data

What is Sherbit?

More and more information is being generated about us everyday. As more of our everyday activities are connected to the internet, we need a way of making sense of that huge stream of data. Sherbit is a platform for monitoring the information that’s being collected about you, while putting it to use for your own benefit. We believe that your data doesn’t just belong to internet companies — it belongs to you.

We’re developing applications that help you turn the “numbers” into meaningful insights you can put into action: like discovering ways to manage your time more effectively, live with less stress, or get a better night’s sleep. By creating tools for taking control of your data, we want to help make internet services more transparent — so we take our own standards for privacy and security very seriously. We encourage you to take a look at our privacy policy and terms of use, and stay tuned to our blog to keep informed about the web applications you use everyday.

When will I get access?

We are working hard to activate all accounts as fast as possible. You’ll receive an e-mail notifying you when your account is active. You can move up the queue by referring your friends — the referral URL is located in the e-mail you received when you signed up. (If you signed up before we added the referral system, don’t worry! You’re at the top of the list).

What services can Sherbit connect to?

You can see the current list of services here. We’re adding new services and data points regularly — if you want to request a specific service, please send us an e-mail.

Can I track custom data manually?

Yes. The application currently includes three manual trackers. The Counter allows you to manually increment a counter whenever an event occurs (for example, when you take a medication, or experience a symptom). The Timer allows you to record discrete windows of time. The Location tracker allows you to create ‘geo-fences’ that automatically record when you enter and exit a location.

What will you do with my data?

We do not currently store any user information. In the future, we will store an encrypted version of your data on our servers. We will transform and normalize this data so that, down the line, you’ll be able to do statistical analysis of your information. For some services, we must store data in order to display it in the client; for example, you cannot see historical data from the Nest Thermostat unless you ‘record’ it using Sherbit. Your information will not be sold or distributed to anybody, and you can ‘opt-out’ of storage by selecting this option on the Services screen. We have employed the maximum amount of security possible, and employ industry standard ‘best practices’ to keep your information safe.

Can I export my data?

Not yet. We’re working on adding the ability to export your data as a .CSV file — coming soon.

Will there be an Android version?

Yes. We’re working on it, but can’t offer a timeline at this date.

Can I help?

Please send an e-mail if you’re interested in joining our team!

We hope you enjoy using Sherbit — make sure to send us your feedback.
